Your Money or Your Life....Simple really

I've been reading "Your Money or Your Life"  lately. Awesome book, puts money in perspective and makes me realize that I have to change my views on money and how I use it.  Money should work for you not the other way around.  It makes no sense to fight this. To work 40 plus hours a week and not be able to manipulate money to your liking.

We buy things to substitute happiness. It's true. When was the last time you bought something because you needed it? Think about it.  Are you buying stuff as a hobby or a means to better your life?  Are you wasting your money on something that you haven't seen results on?  Are you paying what needs to be paid first?  Are you selling your prized possessions?  Does buying things get you off? Is that your high?  Why not get high on life itself?  Enjoy what you do have like air, food and health.  Enjoy your abilities as a person. Enjoy your skills.  Enjoy you.

Dude, where's my truck?

On Tuesday, November 2nd my truck was stolen from the parking lot at my place of business.  Still no word on where it's at. At this point I think it's a lost cause. I'm looking for another vehicle and possibly going to drive my dad's truck for awhile. Why do people have to do this?  I was thinking, "damn, why can't said thief get a job and a vehicle of their own?"  I'm sure my beloved S-10 is on a farm, in a ditch or has been chopped for parts.  I know that I can't afford to buy another vehicle for awhile and must depend on family to carry me over this hurdle.

This truck was paid off and got decent gas mileage.  It's all I had. I'm thankful for my brother's Nissan. That thing has been a saver for both Jamie and I. And it's still going. Any way just a friendly public service announcement. Lock up your vehicle no matter where you're at.

The fun in no money

In getting in debt and trying to figure a way out, I've realized that there is a lot to be learned and that you could have more fun with less money. Not having it actually forces you to look at things you don't need.  It forces you to get creative and clean your house. It forces you to ask if you really need something. What's a need and what's a want. I'm in a financial bind with less than $60.00 to my name. (Gas has to come from that $60.00) I now look around at what I have and notice there is so much I can do without. I can cut so much costs on what I use or don't use every day. Watch out XBOX, you're next!  I realize that I really like to write. You can't do that with a 360. It's exciting for me to gather up all the debt paperwork and figure out what to do with it all. I feel like I'm in control.

Humanizing Money

Humans to want to humanize money and by that I mean they want to ask money's permission to buy something. Why?  It's because we let money rule us not the other way around. You see them standing there looking at something figuring out in their head if they can afford it. They may know they can't but they'll stand there and argue with money like it's a spouse. "If I sacrifice this bill this month I can buy this TV/game/car, etc now"  I know that I'm guilty of this 100% of the time I go to Walmart.  Most of what I do or have done is impulse buy. I buy a game take it home realize it sucks and I hate myself, kick, scream, cuss and call my self an idiot because I just blew off a bill in favor of a stupid game that I won't be playing in a month anyway.  The game is gone, but the bill keeps coming up only double or triple depending on late fees, interest rates, etc. OR they shut off a service and come and get your shit because you wanted short term gratification instead of long term peace.

Territorial Pissings

I came home last night to find a tractor and some tree trimming machine in my field. I guess it's the county's machinery. No note was left asking me to leave it there on MY land. Maybe I shouldn't get so worked up about it but it's the principal of it. They drove through my back yard to get to some trees. I don't appreciate it. Maybe if they would have said "Hey man, is it o.k. if we park our stuff here?"  Does that mean I can use it?  It's on private property. They could brush hog my field and we'll call it even.

The World is Not a Catering Service

The pulse of the world does not stop for anyone at anytime. I’m tired of the complaining people do thinking that everyone should cater to them.  It just doesn’t work that way.  If you’re able bodied and have normal brain function, I have no sympathy for you. Get over yourself.   We have to abide by the same society, the same rules.  I don’t care about your last name, who your parents were, how much you gave to charity, how many kids you have, what you drive, how much money you make, or how much your overpriced house cost. Get over it.   If you genuinely need help that’s fine. I’ll help you. But I’m not going to go out of my way to cater to you because you’re pissy about the way your life is or how someone has treated you.  We all have choices.  If you’re busy, get unbusy.  If you don’t have time for your passion, make time for it. If you’re broke, figure out how to save money. The answer to that is stop spending!
